Our group is doing research in the area of networking and privacy under the direction of Prof. Markopoulou. Current projects are in the areas of privacy, data transparency, mobile systems, IoT and emerging devices, network measurement, the interface of technology and policy. Our graduate students come from the EECS, CS and Networked Systems graduate programs. Our lab is located at Engineering Hall 4120. We are also part of the ProperData center.

- Nov. 2024: Looking forward to hosting HotNets 2024 in Irvine.
- Aug. 2024: Congrats to Olivia Figueira and co-authors for having our paper on “DiffAudit: Auditing Privacy Practices of Online Services for Children and Adolescents” accepted to ACM IMC 2024.
- July 2024: Another award for the “Tracking, Profiling, and Ad Targeting in the Alexa Echo Smart Speaker Ecosystem” paper. It was recognized at PET 2024 as Runner-Up for the Caspar Bowden Award for Outstanding Research in PET.
- June 2024: ProperData hosted it’s 4th Summer Outreach Program on Privacy, IoT, and AI for highschool students at UC Irvine. [UCI SSoE News]
- Oct. 2023: Congrats to Umar, Rahmadi, Hao, Athina, and all collaborators for receiving the Best Paper Award at IMC 2023 for “Tracking, Profiling, and Ad Targeting in the Alexa Echo Smart Speaker Ecosystem”.
