What Information is Collected and Why
When you request access to some of our research products (for example, certain data and software packages), you first have to complete a request form and provide some minimal information: name, email address, and affiliation. For security purposes, we also log the IP address from which you filled out the form. The information you enter in forms is used to contact you and respond regarding the data/software on our site in which you have expressed interest.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We will not sell or rent this information with any third party outside of our organization, except as specified below.
We may share aggregated information to fulfill our obligations with our funding agencies (e.g. NSF). This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
We may also have to disclose information if required by an audit, university officials or attorneys, or in general to comply with university policies and the law.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You can do/request the following at any time by contacting us via the email address provided on the corresponding project page:
- See what data we have about you, if any.
- Change/correct any data we have about you.
- Have us delete any data we have about you.
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you fill out a request form the data is encrypted and is transmitted over “https.” Only current members of the UCI Networking Group have access to this information. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment, per UCI OIT policies.
